A hippy child who grew up in the Terania Forest and wound up on the streets of Nimbin, Katooma and Melbourne. Jimmy Maca has experienced life to the extreme.
Headed towards a career in petty crime and drugs, an old man kangaroo proved to be his salvation when Jimmy's motorbike and the kangaroo collided in the very early hours of the morning in 2004.
Years of a semi-life on prescribed drugs, which did little to address the chronic pain and a lot to suppress the life force of a man destined for great things. This could have been the end of the story, but Jimmy used all the wisdom he had developed and fought the medical profession until he was granted the opportunity to live again: Lost the useless leg,,, gained a life!
Painting just appeared in his life and his passion was unleashed. Jimmy began his adventure into sketching and creating original tattoo designs. He then discovered the joy of drawing on canvas and eventually began experimenting with spray paint on canvas. He has moved on and has developed his own style using spray painting techniques combined with brush work to create some hauntingly beautiful works.
Only self-taught, Jimmy has created his own online world-wide community of artists who support each other and share their skills and knowledge. His works are communicated internationally via the web, and this is the first time he has exhibited in the public space.
